John Lollos’ inventive documentary weaves together portraits of two beloved personalities—Sholom Aleichem and Theodore Bikel. An icon of modern Jewish literature, Sholom Aleichem created dozens of beloved characters who offer a window into prewar Eastern European shtetl life. Turning 91 this spring, Oscar®-nominated performer Theodore Bikel has played Sholom Alecheim’s Tevye the Milkman more than 2,000 times! He is the foremost interpreter of this great Yiddish author, which is evident by his masterful performance in this unique film. Filled with humour and warmth, the film celebrates these two remarkable men, their amazing bodies of work and their championing of Yiddishkeit.

Co-presented with the Toronto Jewish Film Festival.
