Amit Weisberger France
Violinist, singer, actor and dancer Amit Weisberger has quickly established himself among the major artists of the French klezmer and Yiddish Culture scene. He works with a number of different groups, including Beigalé Orkestra, Yiddishe Fantazyé Trio, and The Belf Project, but his most personal project is Kabaretale, in which he pays tribute to the Yiddish cabaret of yesteryear. In this whimsical and poetic spectacle, Weisberger captures what he calls the “unconventional elegance” of another time in a multilingual experience featuring old Yiddish songs in their original form, as well as some translated into French, English, Romanian, Hebrew and Arabic. Joined by two stalwarts of the contemporary klezmer scene, Ilya Shneyveys (piano, accordion) and Zilien Biret (clarinet), Weisberger’s Kabaretale will make you laugh, cry, drink, and dance (not necessarily in that order).
