Jaffa Road group has created a unique sonic landscape that draws easily and organically from the worlds of sacred and secular Jewish songs, Arabic and Indian music, modern jazz, rock, and dub. Jaffa Road creates a union between acoustic and electronic, secular and sacred, ancient and modern. Since the release of their JUNO nominated debut (Sunplace) the band has criss-crossed Canada with tours further a-field to California, Alaska, New York, and Brazil. Their travels have taken them to some of the largest festivals in Canada as well as to the most remote music festival in North America (The Rocking Walrus Festival in the high Arctic in Igloolik, Nunavut). Jaffa Road’s second album Where The Light Gets In, was nominated for a Juno award , and won World Music Group of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Featuring Aaron Lightstone, Aviva Chernick, Rakesh Tewari, Sundar Viswanathan and in place of Justin Gray, Ian DeSouza of Sisters Euclid will be guest-performing.
