Zusha NYC

Sunday September 4, 11pm
Brigantine Room, Harbourfront Centre

Zusha is a World Soul band led by Shlomo Gaisin (vocals), Elisha Mlotek (percussion) and Zachariah Goldschmiedt (guitar). Their music focuses on the Hasidic musical style known as nigun, wordless melody, and seeks to inspire people of all backgrounds and faiths to live with intention, meaning, and love. Zusha has been described as “soulful and exotic” by The Forward, and “a softer, folksier, but no less radical side of religious musical expression” by Moment Mag. Their shows are entertaining, meaningful, soothing, and fun, and tend to attract a diverse crowd. Wearing their hearts on their sleeves, the proud Hasidic trio aims to create a space of unity and openness, love directed both above and below. Their eponymous debut EP launched at #9 on Billboard’s World music chart and in their first year they have played to sold out audiences in New York (Mercury Lounge, Highline Ballroom, Knitting Factory, Bowery Ballroom), DC, Chicago, San Francisco, and Jerusalem, and headlined Central Park’s SummerStage Yiddish Soul concert, Shir Madness: the Melbourne Jewish Music Festival, and D.C.’s Jewish Music Festival. Also featuring Andrew Marsh and Max Jacob.
