Adrienne Cooper: Dreaming in Yiddish Memorial Concert and Award
December 27, 2020 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Ashkenaz is honoured to participate in this year’s Adrienne Cooper Dreaming in Yiddish Memorial Concert and Award show, streamed from New York’s Museum of Jewish Heritage Safra Hall. This annual event was created in honour of the late great singer and researcher Adrienne Cooper z”l (1946-2011), who was a towering figure in the Yiddish revival and graced Ashkenaz stages so many times. This year’s event features a new performance from the recipient of this year’s award and another Ashkenaz alumni, the inimitable Shane Baker, as well as never-before screened performance footage of Adrienne Cooper from past Ashkenaz Festivals, recently unearthed from the David A. Stein Film Archive. The show will be livestreamed exclusively through Yiddish New York on December 27 at 8pm. Purchase a ticket for the program HERE.
We encourage our followers to give to the Adrienne Cooper Fund for Dreaming in Yiddish, which provides resources to maintain this event and provide a meaningful gift to each annual award recipient. Donations can be made through GOH Productions’ paypal giving link: paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/1474262
Previous awardees of the Adrienne Cooper Dreaming in Yiddish Prize were: Jenny Romaine, Michael Wex, Josh Socalled Dolgin, Irena Klepfisz, Shura Lipovsky, Yefim “Fima” Chorny & Susana Ghergus, and Nikolai (Kolya) Borodulin.
The 2020 Adrienne Cooper Dreaming in Yiddish Award show is presented in association with Yiddish New York, the ACDIY Committee, GOH Productions, the Museum of Jewish Heritage, and Ashkenaz.
