A Celebration of Yiddish Kite(s)
September 22 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Luftmentshen unite! Ashkenaz and Ontario Yiddishkayt (OY!) are coming together to add a Yiddish twist to Toronto’s signature kite-flying event, Toronto Windfest. Our free, all-ages celebration of Yiddish Kite(s) (get it?) takes place at Woodbine Beach on Sunday September 22, 12-4pm. Bring your own kite or decorate one of ours and make it your own (limited quantity, first come first served). Bring a picnic lunch and snacks, lawnchairs, beach blankets, a bathing suit (?), your friends and family of all ages, and your appetite for mamaloshen. From 1-3pm there will be an acoustic klezmer jam session on the beach hosted by Toronto Klezmer Society and open to all instrumentalists wishing to participate.
Woodbine Beach Park is located on shore of Lake Ontario, between Coxwell and Woodbine Avenues. Vehicles can access Woodbine Beach Park from Lakeshore Boulevard East, just east of Coxwell Avenue. Parking is available off Lakeshore at Northern Dancer Blvd. PARKING IS FREE!
