The 12th biennial Ashkenaz Festival, North America’s largest showcase of Yiddish and global Jewish music and culture, invites you to join us in Toronto from August 28 through September 3, 2018!

Getting Here

  • Air Canada is our Official Canadian Airline for the Ashkenaz Festival.  Please contact our office directly for details on the 10% discount code: 416-979-9901 or bridget@ashkenaz.ca
  • Toronto’s Island Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ) gets you as close to the Harbourfront Centre Festival grounds as you can get.  Note that the Air Canada discount code extends to the use of YTZ for flights from Montreal only.
  • Or, route through to Pearson Airport (YYZ) + take a taxi downtown
  • Bus: The Greyhound gets you pretty close at the Bay & Dundas Terminal
  • Train: Union Station is quite close (a 10 minute walk!).

The closest hotels to Harbourfront Centre are the Radisson Admiral, Westin Harbour Castle and the Intercontinental Toronto Centre.  Proximity has its price, though.  So if you’re looking for a more economical stay, we recommend using our preferred friends of Ashkenaz rates above or trying the following:

  • Hotels in less central locations (north, east, or west of the downtown core)
  • Air BNB

Getting Around Town

  • The city’s public transit system, the TTCis a great way to get around town!  See below for closest stops to each of our venues

  • Parking – this is downtown Toronto, and it comes at a premium… the Green P parking system(and app!) can help

 

Getting to Our Venues

Harbourfront Centre – 235 Queens Quay West

Head south on Lower Simcoe Street from Lakeshore Boulevard.

TTC to Union Station, Harbourfront is an 8-minute walk South on York Street.

Koerner Hall - 273 Bloor Street West

Driving directions from Hwy 401: from Highway 401, take Avenue Road south to Bloor Street, OR take the Don Valley Parkway south to the Bloor Street ramp and proceed west along Bloor to Avenue Road.

Take the TTC subway to St. George Station (Bloor-Danforth line). You will be facing south toward Varsity Stadium when you exit the subway using the Bedford Road exit. Cross the street to the south side of Bloor Street, turn left, walk east only a few steps, and you will be at the front door of the TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning.

Koerner_Hall

The Royal Conservatory building is called the TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning. We are on the south side of Bloor Street, between the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) and Varsity Stadium. We are only a block southwest of Yorkville, half a block west of Avenue Road, and five blocks east of the Annex area.

Lula Lounge – 1585 Dundas St West

From the Gardiner (coming east or west) take the Jameson exit. Go north on Jameson to Queen (where it ends).  Turn right (east) onto Queen and continue to Brock. Turn left (north) onto Brock to Dundas. Turn right on Dundas and you are at Lula.

We are on the 505 Dundas Street streetcar route between Brock and Sheridan. If you’re coming by subway, take the Dufferin bus #29 south from Dufferin station, get off at Dundas and walk west one and a half blocks west.

Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts – 10258 Yonge Street

DVP north merge into Hwy 404; Exit Major MacKenzie Drive, Exit 31 West on Major MacKenzie Drive until Yonge Street; Yonge Street North 3 traffic lights then turn left on Wright Street.

Take the Yonge Line Subway to Finch Station, exit subway and head to the VISA buses. Take Bus 99 (Heading North to Richmond Hill). Get off at Dunlop Street stop, directly across from the theatre.
