York Region Initiative

Beginning in 2014, with the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Ashkenaz is embarking on a four-year initiative to extend its programming reach to Toronto’s northern suburbs.

York Region is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Canada, and boasts the fastest growing Jewish community in the GTA. The community hub is the new Schwartz/Reisman JCC, a state-of-the-art facility where much of Ashkenaz’s new programming will take place. Ashkenaz has also developed relationships with the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, the Flato Markham Theatre, and a number of regional festivals in its effort to bring world-class Jewish music and cultural programming to a dynamic community. Stay tuned to our e-blasts and social media for the latest in our York Region programming.
