Join us for an engaging conversation about the modern Jewish food movement, featuring leading culinary personalities Leah Koenig and Bonnie Stern.
Based in Brooklyn, Leah Koenig is an expert on global Jewish cuisine whose writing has appeared in publications such as The New York Times, Saveur, and Epicurious. She is the author of several cookbooks, among them Modern Jewish Cooking and, most recently, Little Book of Jewish Appetizers. Bonnie Stern is a household name in Canada, having authored 12 bestselling cookbooks and hosted three national cooking shows. Brunch will feature a curated selection of Leah and Bonnie’s recipes, including savory French toast with za’atar butter and seared tomatoes, and smoked salmon hash with lemon-mint vinaigrette.
Live music will be provided by Brooklyn’s The Sandcatchers, a quartet whose fresh sound features a blend of the Middle Eastern oud and the dreamy, Americana infused textures of the steel. Exploring themes of fusion and innovation on tradition in contemporary Jewish culture, this event promises to be a feast for the senses.
Co-presented with Schwartz/Reisman Centre. Sponsored in part by JCC Association’s Making Music Happen Centennial Grant Initiative, funded by a grant from Marvin J. Pertzik and the Mary Livingston Griggs and Mary Griggs Burke Foundation.
