Ashkenaz is pleased to be part of “Rythyms of Canada,” the Aga Khan Museum‘s free multicultural Canada Day celebrations this weekend.

Sunday June 30, 12-11pm & Monday July 1, 12-6pm
Aga Khan Museum, 77 Wynford Dr. (Eglinton/DVP)

Enjoy live music, food vendors, a Middle Eastern souk-style artisan market, family-friendly activities, dance workshops, and more, in a celebration of Canada’s dynamic mix of world views, cultures, stories, and rhythms. Full event listings available on Facebook

Join us at 1pm on Monday July 1 in the Museum’s Bellerive Room (pictured above) as we explore the relationship between Canadian musicians of Jewish and Iranian background, who have built bridges between their respective communities through intercultural artistic collaboration. Parisa Sabet and Noam Lemish of the Israeli-Iranian Musical Initiative will be joined by the Artistic Directors of both Ashkenaz and the Aga Khan Museum in a discussion exploring paths to peace and understanding through creative musical dialogue and celebration of shared values and traditions.

Check out a video of the Israeli-Iranian Musical Initiative performing at the 2016 Ashkenaz Festival.

This program is made possible in part by support from the Department of Canadian Heritage.
