INFO/TICKETS

Katya Ustinova’s directorial debut offers an elegiac last glimpse of the Shtetl towns of Russia, located in what is currently Ukraine and Moldova. At one time, these tight-knit communities were possessed of a rich and vibrant culture in which Yiddish language and folklore thrived, alongside Jewish faith and practices. Now they lie silent and mostly abandoned, save for a handful of gentile residents who carry on their neighbours’ traditions, keeping their spirit and memory alive.
