Yiddish Spring events

Apr 4 - 2019

This spring, Ashkenaz celebrates Yiddish culture – past, present and future – with a city-wide initiative featuring exhibitions, concerts, screenings, lectures, and workshops. The lynchpin of this project is Ashkenaz’s partnership in presenting a unique exhibition and sound installation at the Canadian Language Museum from April 4 to June 27, featuring the work of Berlin-based musician Paul Brody and Toronto-based Yiddish doctoral student Miriam Borden (click here for more info). With the CLM as a homebase, numerous other events and performances will take place there and across the city. Some of these program are produced by Ashkenaz and its partners, while many others are presented by independent artists and institutions. The list below of events affiliated with Yiddish Spring includes both our own signature productions as well as those initiated by others. If you know about or are producing an event relevant to Yiddish Spring, please contact us to request inclusion in the list below. Check this page often as we expect there will be ongoing additions as the spring unfolds. Yiddish Spring is presented by Ashkenaz in association withe UJA’s Committee for Yiddish and numerous other partners, and is supported in part by a grant from UJA’s Kultura Collective.
